Restoring nature and biodiversity
The projects we work with create new habitats and protect biodiversity. Trees also clean our air and water and contribute to a healthy climate.
Making a difference 1 tree at a time
Flight disruptions create up to 9 million tons of CO2 every year. We plant trees as each one absorbs around a ton of CO2 in its lifetime.
Caring for people and the planet
Green spaces support the health and wellbeing of local communities. Agroforestry also boosts local economies and reduces food insecurity.

Armenia: North Bazum reforestation
December 2023North Bazum has suffered greatly due to intensive animal grazing leading to soil erosion and loss of biodiversity. Our partner has planted over 20 native trees and 8 species of shrubs to reduce the number of bare areas and support a strong ecosystem, with the goal of achieving 2500 trees per hectare.
Spain: Regenerative agriculture
March 2023Working closely with public and private landowners and local volunteers, One Tree Planted has allotted 267,300 food trees to restore lands and farms across Spain. Agricultural forests reduce desertification and diversify food and income sources for local communities, as well as provide much needed habitats for lynx, foxes, and other animals.
Nova Scotia: Cape Breton Highlands Restoration
September 2023The Cape Breton Highlands were once devastated by spruce budworms, leading to massive tree death. But due to moose grazing, new saplings were unable to grow and required human intervention to survive. The "Bring Back the Boreal" campaign was launched in 2015, which planted over 100,000 local spruce trees across the highlands.
Germany: Climate resilient restoration
May 2023Land owners and volunteers across Germany have banded together to restore degraded forests and farmlands ravaged by drought, storms, and a bark beetle infestation. By spearheading local tree planting events, our partner's goal is to create mixed species forests that are more resistant to pests and help combat climate change.
Turkey: Agroforestry farming
May 2023Desertification is big problem in regions such as Kilis, leading to food insecurity and lack of employment. This project aims to distribute olive and pistachio seedlings to local farmers, with the goal of boosting the local economy. These fruit trees are well suited to the region's climate and are versatile crops.
